A combination of traditional craftsmanship and contemporary furniture design in a form of a solid wood chair.
Aisa, a shaft for Finnish takes inspiration from traditional wood crafted utensils. The sculptural cnc-machined parts are joined with mortise-tenon joints. Furthermore the structure features a special “self tightening” wedged dovetail joinery that is exposed on the seat top.
The natural forms and refined details result in a design that resembles ming furniture and represents a stratification of time translated into a contemporary language.
